With that said here are a few landscaping tips of our own that we wanted to share.

1. Avoid planting tall bushes or plants near windows

While it might seem pretty at first, tall bushes require frequent pruning to ensure that it does not grow to block the view and appear unkempt.

2. Plant your vegetable garden an ample distance away from plants in the rest of your garden

It is generally a good practice to keep your vegetables separate from the rest of the garden for two reasons. For starters it easier to maintain and keep free of weeds. Second, if grown too close together they will have to compete for sunlight and water when crowded together.

3. Be aware of the sun/shade needs of various flowers and plants

Because nothing is worse that having your freshly planted impatiens or other flowers that are best grown in shady locations, wilt and die because they were planted in poorly planned area that gets lots of direct sunlight.

4. Strategically place hedges and medium size plants around unsightly objects like utility boxes to better conceal them

Poles, fence posts, and other artificial objects that detract appeal from a garden can easily be covered with strategically placed plants.

5. Don’t completely block access to important objects like utility boxes or trash cans

Don’t go overboard and cover things so much that they are rendered completely inaccessible.
